Overview
Coupon codes let you give customers a code to use at Shopify checkout. Customers who use the code receive bonus entries.
This is a great way to track affiliates and influencers promoting your campaign, or to give people an extra reason to buy.
Setup happens in two places: first in ViralSweep, then in Shopify. The code must match exactly in both.
Step 1: Set up the code in ViralSweep
In your campaign, go to Manage Coupons.
Click Add New Code.
Enter the discount code. You'll add this same code in Shopify in Step 2.
Enter the number of entries or tickets the customer receives for using the code.
Enter how many times one customer can use the code.
Enter the start and end dates and times the code is valid.
Save the code. Add more codes if you need them.
Step 2: Create the same code in Shopify
This step is done inside your Shopify admin, not in ViralSweep.
In Shopify, go to Discounts and click Create discount.
Choose Amount off order.
Enter the same code you created in ViralSweep and set a fixed amount of $0.00.
Configure the other settings as needed and save the code.
How coupon codes affect entries
A coupon code adds a set number of bonus entries on top of the customer's purchase entries. It can't multiply entries.
If you give the Shopify code a real discount instead of $0.00, per-dollar entries are calculated on the discounted price.
If a code isn't awarding entries
Check that the code exists in both ViralSweep and Shopify, spelled exactly the same way.
Check that the order was placed between the code's start and end dates.
Check the per-customer usage limit.
Look up two or three customers who used the code in the Entrants tab. If the bonus is missing, contact support with your promotion ID and their email addresses.
