The static coupon code feature is available on all plans. The dynamic coupon code feature is only available on our Business Plan and higher.
Overview
The Coupon Codes feature is a social action that allows users to:
A) receive a code automatically when entering your promotion
B) unlock a code by completing a set amount of actions
We support both static codes (one code for everyone), and dynamic codes (different code for each person). Dynamic codes require a CSV file be uploaded to ViralSweep.
Setup - Static Codes
When setting up your campaign, navigate to:
Post-Entry: Social Actions > + Add Action > Coupons > Static.
Fill in the title of the action, a description of what the coupon is good for, and provide the static coupon code that everyone will receive.
Next, decide how many other actions a user must complete before they can unlock the coupon, or set it to 0 for them to automatically unlock it when they enter.
Setup - Dynamic Codes
When setting up your campaign, navigate to:
Post-Entry: Social Actions > + Add Action > Coupons > Dynamic.
Fill in the title of the action, a description of what the coupon is good for, and upload a CSV file of the codes that you want us to distribute.
Next, decide how many other actions a user must complete before they can unlock the coupon, or set it to 0 for them to automatically unlock it when they enter.
Tip: We suggest uploading thousands of coupons so the system does not run out, otherwise, once all the coupons have been awarded, users will begin to see an error message that all the coupons have been distributed.
File Format
In order to use the dynamic coupon feature, you must upload a CSV file with all of the codes appearing in the first column of the file. In addition, there should be no column titles or headers. Column 1 should contain all of your codes.
FAQ
Can I give away both static and dynamic coupons at the same time?
Yes, we allow you to add unlimited static coupons, and one dynamic coupon action that can distribute unlimited dynamic coupons.
Can I give users a static coupon when they enter my promotion, but require they complete actions to unlock a dynamic coupon?
Yes, you can automatically give users a coupon when they enter without them having to complete any actions, and you can also require them to complete actions to unlock another coupon, regardless of it being static or dynamic.
How do I track who claimed a coupon?
On the data export we provide, we show which users unlocked which coupons. You can also click the + icon next to an entrant's email address on the entrants tab to see which coupons they received. If you were providing multiple static coupons, and or dynamic coupons, we list out each coupon a user claimed, and the code that they were provided with.
What counts as a coupon claim under analytics?
If you are providing users with coupons without them having to complete actions to unlock it, we still require the user click on the coupon to unlock it, which we then count as a "claim".
If users are required to complete actions to unlock a coupon, once they complete the correct number of actions we automatically reveal the coupon to the user, which we then count as a "claim".
