Connect ViralSweep to Shopify to automatically send promotion entries to your Shopify customer list.


How to connect Shopify

Step 1: Open integrations

When setting up your promotion, go to:

Integrations → Email & SMS

Click Add Service, then select Shopify.


Step 2: Connect your Shopify store

  • If your store is already connected, you’re all set

  • If not, you’ll be prompted to install the ViralSweep app to complete the connection


Step 3: Add customer tags

Before finalizing the connection:

  • Enter any tags you want applied to customers in Shopify

  • Click Connect

These tags help you segment and identify customers from your promotion.


Step 4: You're connected

Once connected, all new promotion entries will automatically be added to your Shopify account as customers.


What data is sent to Shopify?

ViralSweep sends the following fields:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Email Address

  • Phone


Do existing customers get updated?

Yes.

If someone enters your promotion and already exists in Shopify, we’ll update their customer profile with any new information provided.


Troubleshooting

If entries aren’t appearing in Shopify, here are the most common reasons:

Email already exists in Shopify

If the email is already associated with a Shopify customer, a new customer won’t be created.


Duplicate entry in ViralSweep

If someone has already entered the promotion, their information won’t be sent again.

This often happens if:

  • The integration was set up after entries were already collected

  • A user attempts to enter multiple times with the same email


Phone number conflict

Shopify does not allow multiple customers to share the same phone number.

If a submitted phone number is already tied to another customer, the entry won’t sync.


Temporary delay

There may be a delay on Shopify’s side.

If you don’t see new entries right away, check again in a few hours.
