By default, Shopify purchase promotions award entries per dollar spent. If you want each product to be worth a set number of entries, no matter its price or any discount code, use product bonuses instead.
Example: a Starter pack always awards 15 entries and a Vault pack always awards 90 entries, even when a customer uses a discount code.
Choose your approach
Fixed entries only (recommended for this goal). Clear the per-dollar rate and give every eligible product its own bonus. Discount codes don't change the entries a product earns.
Per-dollar rate plus a top-up. Keep the per-dollar rate and add a bonus that brings each product to its target. Discount codes lower the per-dollar part of the total. See the last section of this article.
Set up fixed entries
Open your promotion and click Edit.
In your entry rules, clear the entries-per-dollar value so dollars spent award no entries.
In the Products panel on the right, select every product and variant that should earn entries.
Next to each product, type the number of entries it should award. Leave it as an additive bonus. Clicking the + icon switches the field to a multiplier, which awards 0 entries when the per-dollar rate is cleared.
Save, then place a real test order to confirm the totals.
Example
Starter pack ($14.95): bonus of 15 → each pack awards 15 entries
Vault pack ($44.95): bonus of 90 → each pack awards 90 entries
Two Starter packs in one order → 30 entries (bonuses apply to each unit)
Good to know
Every eligible product needs its own bonus. With the per-dollar rate cleared, a product with no bonus earns 0 entries.
Use additive bonuses only. Multipliers have no base to multiply and award 0.
Discounts don't change the count. A fully discounted order still earns the product bonus.
New products don't inherit bonuses. Set a bonus on any product you add later.
Set your values before launch. If entries are re-pulled later, every order is recalculated with the current values. To change values for a set time, use a scheduled bonus period.
Entries are per product. There's no flat amount per order and no cap per order.
Keep the per-dollar rate and top up instead
To hit a target total while keeping a per-dollar rate, subtract the entries the price already earns:
Additive bonus = Target entries − (Price × Entries per dollar)
Example: at $1 = 50 entries, a $5 product with a target of 300 entries needs a bonus of 300 − 250 = +50. Discount codes lower the per-dollar part, so the total drops when a code is used.
